The contract to produce the new GBFDC Official covers was awarded to Peter Barrett,
the editor of the excellent Steven Scott "Official First Day Cover Catalogue,"
with a remit to produce high quality covers at an affordable price. Peter produced
the first 20 covers and the associated thanks him immensly for this.
Phil Sheridan has agreed to take over the baton and the first Official for the World Cup issue is superb.
The covers are illustrated on the back as well as the front and have informative insert cards.
We expect that in the future they will be much sought after by collectors.
In addition to the covers shown below, in 2003 we have also produced a set of four Prestige
Booklet Panes on the Coronation issue. All of the sets were sold within five days. In 2005
the Trafalgar set and Prestige booklet set were also sold out within a week.
The
Association also acquired the signature of Sir Edmund Hillary
on the Endeavours and Coronation. Sir Edmund conquered Mount
Everest a few days before Her Majesty's Coronation. Special
thanks to Richard Dean, for obtaining the
signatures.
